Dictionaries and their usage in English Learning

Abstract:

       English Dictionaries are necessary for the people who want to learn English, this paper intends to discuss analytically the classification of the English dictionaries and its usages in the English Learning. According to the definition given by the Webster’s Dictionary, dictionaries can be classified into 3 groups, that is a reference book giving for words of one language equivalents in another; a reference book containing words use. Alphabetically arranged along with information about their forms, pronunciations and syntactical and idiomatic uses; a reference book listing alphabetically terms or names important to a particular subject or activity along with discussion of their meanings and applications.
