Abstract: In Wuthering Heights, written by Emily Bronte, the story takes place
in northern England in an isolated, rural area. The main characters involved are
residents of two opposing households: Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange.
In Wuthering Heights, the characters are quite intricate and engaging. Catherine
Earnshaw, Heathcliff and their love impress me most deeply.
Key words: powerful, selfish, evil, love, revenge
Introduction:
Wuthering Heights is a love story that deals with the social classes and the suppression
of true feelings. It bestows a moral value onto the reader of discrimination and
true heartbreak. It is a tragedy because of what happens when the characters finally
discover what was truly meant to be. The characters within the story are truly
fascinating, since they have numerous characteristic aspects.
Conclusion:
As Romantic authors tend to look into man's inner nature, so did Bronte glimpse
into the mind of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. In Wuthering Heights, Bronte
is proposing that as humans we have the right to meddle with the cosmic, dark
and questioning universe just as Catherine and Heathcliff manipulated with their
own lovers and family.
