How to Improve Spoken English by English Songs

[Abstract] Because of different factors, especially the mother tongue---Chinese, many English learners in China are poor in English. Then how to improve spoken English and speak fluent and pure English becomes a big problem，though there are not a few ways. Nowadays, many facts have proved that English songs have a positive effect on English learning. There create a relaxing atmosphere, increase learners’ interest and build up their confidence. Additionally, because of positive influences of music, the similarities between the rhythm of music and that of spoken English, and the advantages of English songs, English songs plat an important role in helping with correcting the pronunciation, remembering and accumulating vocabulary, learning foreign culture, and developing sensitivity to English that are all important to the improvement of spoken English. So in this paper the author brings forth a tentative idea, that is, to improve spoken English by using English songs.

利用英文歌曲提高英语口语

1. Introduction
     As the education reform develops in depth in China in recent years, the improvement of spoken English is coming to such a prominent position that more attention has to be paid to it. However, many English learners today are still speaking “Chinglish”, which greatly hinders their spoken English. As is known to all, the main purpose of learning a certain language is just to communicate. And successful communication needs better oral expression. As a second language in China, English is not so easy to master, especially spoken English.
