BACKGROUND
Sue and Mike have implemented several new classes and are now looking to further expand.  They have recently introduced a range of ‘personal training’ programs, which they are planning to run using their qualified instructors.  As a trial, they have scheduled a number of small group training programs and they are currently taking enrolments for these programs.
Sue and Mike have been most impressed wITh the work done on the decision support spread sheet system. They have now asked you to design and implement a system that will help management to record the new customers, instructor and training program details.  Sue and Mike encourage their staff to keep up to date with the various training options available and they also want this system to keep track of the training courses which instructors have completed and the various training programs and providers which are available.   It should also provide Sue and Mike with an interface by which reception staff can enter new enrolments into the system. The best approach is to use a database to track all this data. The database will be designed to be easy for staff to use.  Data can be edited, new data can be added and reports can be viewed.
To make the development easier, it was decided to build the database in three phases:
• The first phase involves storing data about instructors, training programs and customers.  The system will have forms that enable this data to be entered and updated and two queries/reports. Sue and Mike also require you to prepare a sample letter and use the mail merge facility so that they have the capacity to send individualised letters to each of their customers.(credit level)
• The second phase will add tables to store data about the courses which instructors have undertaken as part of their training.  The system will also have form/s that allow data to be entered and updated. (distinction level)
• The third phase requires you to (i) conduct research so that you can provide Sue and Mike with details of training providers (ii) requires the construction of a form which can be used to input new enrolments and (iii) create a dynamic report which, when prompted will show details of any particular course and service providers as well as a list of staff who have completed the program.
