1.0 Hypothesis and research question
In this news report, I will carry out research on the subject of recent protest movements, and examine how news content varies from different providers. Protest movements has already become a heated topic of conversation all over the globe; the journalism industry has been highly developed so this kind of news should have been covered and paid more attention. (Jessica Woodroffe,2000) My analysis will focus on ‘How newspapers mis discribed the protest movements’. It seems that the media only focus on protest movements when major problem occurs, (for example when violence is involved or the government takes action or pays much attention) and large numbers of protest movements are described as violent or shameful. As Anup Shah (2003) put it, the mis-description of the protest movements are likely to detract attention from the major problems the protestors are raising. What's more, it is obvious that some local or the protest movements of the home country, the protest or unrest are on most conditions happened in other countries, which is more evident in some Asian countries.
The shortage of coverage on protest movements and the mis-description of protest movements in the world are totally ignored. News stories which feature http://www.51lunwen.com/media/2012/0109/lw201201091515329005.html the celebrity’s gossips become the mainstream coverage in newspapers today, showing the ignorance of the world’s protest movements. With the sources researched, I will examine and compare statistics which will test the outcome of my hypothesis. I will then present an explanation in conclusion to the evidence researched.
