A Cultural View of the Influence of Female Fashion Magazine on Female Body Abstract This thesis is a study on the influence of fashion magazine on female body. It focuses on the inner structure of fashion signs and images in magazines, which is meant to illustrate how fashion signs and images creation on the mass media greatly enhances cultural meanings to consumption, what kind of political and ideological power hiding behind fashion industry and the mass media, to what extent capitalist system operates its manipulation over consumption, and whether or not consumers can resist capitalist dominating ideology to seek their own consumption pleasures. It is concluded that capitalist consumer's society emerges as a spectacle of material sufficiency and that such sufficiency is, to a certain degree, added by cultural meanings of fashion signs and images, which is actually encouraging obsolescence and extravagance, since the mass media is quite effective in fashion signs production and consumption direction.
