Format Report Group Analysis Report ---Research on group roles, performance and further improvements
[Summary] Group managing is a very hot and important topic in business managing field. How to improve the group performance and keep it in a state of high efficiency is always among the interests of many researchers. Based on many first-hand investigation data to a specific workplace group, this article firstly introduces and analyzes the roles, function, current performance and satisfaction. Following this, the author presents his own ideas countermeasures to improve group performance and satisfaction.
Length 3000 words maximum (not including executive summary, table of
contents, list of references or appendices). Marks will be deducted for
exceeding the word limit.
Task Specifications for the Group Analysis Report
For this task each student must select a suitable workplace group (e.g., a
committee, a project group or a work team). Ideally this should be a work
group in which you are a member. If you are not currently working, then
you will need to use your contacts to gain access to a workplace group
(preferably one in which you were a member).
The workplace group analysis report must address the following subtasks:
Sub-task 1: Write a brief overview of the workplace group. This
should describe the type of group, its membership, its function
and any key events in its history. Then, using appropriate

relevant scholarly references), analyse the dynamics of the
workplace group in terms of roles, conflict management and group
development.
Sub-task 2: Next, using appropriate conceptual frameworks and
group diagnostics (supported by relevant scholarly references),
evaluate the workplace group in terms of its performance and
member satisfaction. Explain what factors determine the current
levels of performance and satisfaction.
Sub-task 3: Identify changes that could improve both
performance and satisfaction and demonstrate why the changes
will be effective.
Note 1: The analysis and argument in your report should be supported by
scholarly references to relevant publications. You are encouraged to consult
original rather than secondary sources. Your reference list must contain only those
publications you have consulted directly. When you refer to a publication that you
have read about in a secondary source (e.g., textbook) list in your references only
the secondary source. That is, cite that secondary publication in your report using
the format: “Mintzberg (1975, cited in Robbins 2003)”.
Note 2: The group analysis report will involve such activities as: collecting
information/data on the workplace group, obtaining suitable group diagnostics,
having group members complete the diagnostics, analysing and presenting data
from diagnostics, interpreting information |
