OUTLINE

Title: Culture Teaching Through Communication

Thesis statement: Communication hinges on culture and language. Much of the deep culture of a language is instantiated and transmitted through communication. In addition, cultural differences that may cause cultural disturbances exist in intercultural communication. Therefore, culture teaching through communication is feasible in Chinese EFL education. It can help EFL learners raise the cultural awareness and develop the intercultural communicative competence.

ⅠIntroduction: Owing to misunderstandings in intercultural communication and disadvantages of the conventional treatment of culture teaching, a feasible and effective approach of teaching foreign culture is urgently needed.

Ⅶ Conclusion: The results of both theoretical and practical analysis show that culture teaching through communication is feasible and also effective. However, with more and more challenges emerging in the intercultural communication, culture teaching through communication needs to be further developed in both syllabus design and practical activities.
